What is vision therapy?

Dr. Worrell has a background as a clinical professor at uc regarding the teaching of infants and children’s eye conditions, and recommends that “children, before they start school, need to have a thorough health and functional exam. Screening tests or general eye exams are not good enough. If their eyes don’t track, focus or coordinate, they have trouble learning.” vision therapy is one solution to these problems. Adults can also benefit! For example, some newly retired folks cannot find pleasure in reading, but they can with vision therapy exercises.

What is low vision?

Low vision care is for children or adults who don’t see well because of eye disease or injury. Often people get examined and ask, “can’t you make my eyewear stronger?” often they are told no, without regard for special optics designs. However, excellent optics for these special patients are available for watching tv, reading, driving, or just for seeing in the distance. Low vision optics are designed for allowing folks to be more independent from congenital diseases, macular degeneration, cataract, retinal disease, diabetes or other conditions. Going to low vision specialists is the answer.

What is Ortho-k?

Ortho-k involves using a custom fit contact lens that is worn at night while sleeping to gently flatten the cornea (front surface of the eye). The result is clear vision during the daytime without the need for glasses or daytime contact lenses! In addition to convenience, ortho-k helps to control and stabilize the future progression of myopia (nearsightedness) in children.
